"I feel like the Bronx has been forgotten in the game: Everybody can look at New York as the mecca of hip hop but it's almost like the Bronx isn't included when they start naming what boroughs are hot. I got love for my city but everyone names Brooklyn, Harlem, Queens, Staten island and the Bronx seems to be left out. I want to shine some light back on the borough that started it all." Since the age of sixteen, AvE has been putting in work towards that goal. With a versatile style, energetic flow, and what he calls a "New-New York Swag", AvE also has the potential to bring his entire city a much-needed injection of originality. Although AvE's stylistic roots are in New York, his music has universal appeal that no one can categorize, and just about anyone can relate to. Growing up in a two-parent hispanic household during Hip Hop's golden era, AvE first became a student of the rap game listening to legends from Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick to Big L, Big Pun, the Notorious B.I.G., and Nas. AVE is working on a Mixtape which he plans to release in early 2010. The Mixtape, which will be more like an street album, will be named M.O.E.T (Music Over Every Thing), "Killer" is the lead single.

Before taking the stage in Osaka, Mos Def mentions that his use of the mask is partially inspired by fellow rapper Daniel Dumile, aka MF Doom. His predilection for metal masks has become an iconic part of Doom’s career. In a 2006 interview with Wax Poetics, he explained that the mask was a key part of creating an entire persona, a character. More specifically, Doom is a super-villain based on exaggerated aspects of the real man’s own personality, because characters “can do anything” whereas real people have limitations.

Pharrell's falsetto can only go so far. So he, along with the rest of the N.E.R.D. troops, recruited a new singer into the fold for their fourth album, Instant Gratification, slated to be released sometime in 2010.
The addition of Rhea, introduced to the band by a mutual friend, has the producer promising some lofty things for the foursome's next project.
"Musically, we're just somewhere else [with her]," Pharrell told MTV News. "The music is now very 3-D. It's something you have to hear. But you'll see. We're definitely somewhere else. I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We're just really excited. We feel like N.E.R.D. has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music — just a little different. But this time, we're taking no prisoners."
The Neptunes artist explained Rhea might be petite, at just 5-foot-4, but her booming voice and her classical background blend in with the genre-bending trio of N.E.R.D., also including Chad Williams and Shae.
"Now you have this little Tinkerbell that's just stepped in and has been amazing," he said. "It's made it a fun process. We can go in so many more directions, because we have the vocal support."
Rhea, a Toronto native of Guyanese descent, met the fellas only once in person before she auditioned for them via Skype. She sang "His Eye Is on the Sparrow." Her rendition impressed the guys, and she soon found herself signing on.
"It was just a really good time," she said of meeting the collective. "When I came in there and I met them and they heard me sing, I think they decided it was the right fit."
"Don't be bashful," Pharrell chimed in. "We lost our minds. We thought she was great."

MTV announced tonight (during the hills lol) they will air the drug intervention documentary series Gone Too Far, starring late DJ AM, starting Oct 12. Adam Goldstein, a.k.a. DJ AM, died Aug 28 of an accidental drug overdose.

The former Bad Boy rapper (born Jamal Barrow) was scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday (October 6) after serving more than nine years of a 10-year sentence in connection with the 2001 Club New York shooting involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez.
But his release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.

So this past weekend I attended the Kia Soul Collective Tour in Miami! I had the chance to expierience FREE concerts from J.Cole & B.o.B friday, The Clipse saturday, & N*E*R*D sunday! Im so glad i found out about it 2 days before! I actually got to speak with J.Cole & B.o.B & theyre both very nice & humble people!
