Shawn Chrystopher will be going on tour soon!
“With my very first project A City With No Seasons no one really knew what to expect from me. With an abundance of music being released every single day, I could do nothing but allow myself to take chances and ultimately place myself in a lane where my peers generally steer away from. In the seven months since, I’ve challenged myself to discover a new sound that would help me continue to grow as an artist.”
Assisting Shawn Chrystopher throughout the composition of The Audition was super-producer Cameron Wallace, who is best known for his co-production credit, alongside Swizz Beatz, for Beyonce’s chart-topping single “Upgrade U.” The Houston-based composer used his unique production style to insure The Audition felt and sounded like nothing Chrystopher has done in the past.
“Cameron was just as instrumental in the making of this project as I was. It took time for me to get used to the new production style, but with each session I began to find my comfort zone, making the song-writing process that much easier.”
In addition to Wallace, Shawn also composed tracks with GRAMMY award winning producer Sidney “Omen” Brown (”Tell it Like it is” on Def Jam Recording artist Ludacris’ Release Therapy).
“Me and Omen had a good relationship prior to me working on this EP; I met him at a studio in Harlem [New York] while on an East Coast swing of promoting my album. The project was basically finished but I felt I needed a certain sound, that only Omen could produce. So I contacted him, explained what I was feeling at the time, and the rest is history.”
The Audition will be Shawn Chrystopher’s first official project since signing to the high-profiled managing/marketing company Elitaste, Inc (which also represents major label recording artists Wale and Mike Posner). The project is set to be released March 23rd, 2010 with the lead single, “Like a Kid Again,” being released February 16th via iTunes.
